It seems that I'm always cursed when it comes to finding dresses for my school's winter formal. Each year normally involves an uncountable of ill-fitting dresses tried on and a few tears so I guess it only makes sense that my senior year shopping experience would be especially traumatic. For two consecutive weekends I scoured the racks of basically every mall in Michigan only to find gorgeous dresses that did not fit my petite frame in any acceptable way. I was heartbroken after having to part with a $60 Alice & Olivia (I KNOW) embellished shift that could not be tailored in time so I turned to the internet. I ordered this midnight blue sequined wrap from Nordstrom and it arrived the night before the dance. Upon trying it on, it too did not fit, so I resulted to sulking and watching Project Runway like it would fix my problems. Coincidentally, it did. After hearing Tim Gunn utter his signature phrase I knew what I had to do. With a handful of safety pins and a roll of double sided tape, I pulled off a Make it Work Moment. I love how the amazing (yet rather uncomfortable) Calvin Klein booties I found at DSW the morning of and the smokey eye I did not know I had the skills to create transformed the girly sequins into an edgier look. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with what I was able to throw together at the last minute and wish I had realized early on that a couple safety pins would save me a lot of stress in the end. Even with all the craziness, my final Snowcoming was a blast with my bffs! Xo.
